This 4-day, 43.5-mile adventure is a scenic, largely Class 1 paddle along the West Branch of the Penobscot River. Enjoy swift river flows, open water paddling, and austere riverside campsites where you can wind down and enjoy the sunrises over Mt. Katahdin or the sunsets over the North Maine Woods. Combined with likely moose sightings and fowl of all types you will quickly forget your cell phone and societal worries and reconnect with nature. This RUBICON trip builds a travel/prep day into the itinerary which allows for final provisioning, gear preparation, and transition into adventure mode. This is a great beginner to intermediate canoe excursion which is amazing as a standalone journey or as a preparatory trip for the Allagash Wilderness Waterway.
