About Us

RUBICON’s mission is to inspire people to experience the wilderness by providing the knowledge and support to make life an adventure.

RUBICON is a Veteran owned and operated business. Matt and Chris have combined their wilderness adventure experience with their extensive military planning expertise to create a white-glove outdoor adventure service so everyone can enjoy the great outdoors.

Matt - Co-Owner: Matt is a passionate and avid outdoorsman that has served in the U.S. Army for 20+ years as a Combat Engineer Officer. His professional experience has focused on large-scale Army formation operations, plans, training, and associated logistical support requirements which span the globe. In 2018, he planned the largest inter-agency and inter-governmental full-scale domestic emergency response exercise ever conducted in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Matt has been combining his military expertise with his love for the mountains, rivers, and trails since 1999. He has multiple summits of Mt. Rainier and many other peaks in the Pacific Northwest; he has hiked all 4000’ mountains in New Hampshire and has led winter ascents of Mt. Katahdin and Mt. Washington. In addition to his mountain exploits, he has led multiple Allagash Wilderness Waterway canoe trips, competed in multi-day adventure races, and has mountain biked extensively in New England, Oregon, and Washington. He holds a master’s degree in Leadership & Management and is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff Officers College, Ranger School, Sapper Leader Course, Airborne School, and Air Assault School. He has selected, trained, and coached three teams to compete and finish the 2019 and 2021 LTG Robert B. Flowers Best Sapper Competitions. Matt lives in New Hampshire with his wife and three children.

Chris - Co-Owner: Chris has a love for planning, training, operations and the outdoors. His first time ever completing a winter summit was the extremely challenging Mt. Katahdin excursion and has multiple other summit attempts of the 48 4000’ in NH, to include a winter summit of Mt. Washington. His experience as a Combat Engineer Officer for the U.S Army along with his experience in the financial sector allows for a unique viewpoint on understanding the need for people to want to get out of their office and into the great outdoors!

He holds a Bachelor’s degree and an M.B.A from Northeastern University, is a graduate of U.S. Army Captains Career Course, Sapper Leader Course, and Rappel Master School. He competed in the 2019 LTG Robert B. Flowers Best Sapper Competition held in Fort Leonard Wood, MO, and coached a team in 2021.

He lives with his fiancée Alexa and their dog Demo and cat Beast in Boston.
