Mahoosuc Notch - 3 days / 2 nights

$149.99

Known infamously as the toughest mile on the Appalachian Trail, the Mahoosuc Notch is the highlight of this 3-day adventure. While not as busy as some of the trails in the White Mountains, this 20+ mile backpacking trip traverses the Mahoosuc Mountain Range and includes a state border crossing between Maine and New Hampshire. In addition to the well maintained lean-to and tent sites, you will also summit Old Speck Mountain which is Maine's third highest peak. Depending on the time of year, you are likely to encounter Appalachian Trail thru-hikers as they make their way to Mt. Katahdin. The 1-mile long Mahoosuc Notch is a deep ravine sandwiched between Mahoosuc Mountain and Fulling Mill Mountain. This stretch is littered with house-sized boulders that have been shed by the mountains creating a maze of challenges as you squeeze over, around, and under them. You are often crawling and dragging or pushing your pack through narrow openings as you navigate through nature's obstacle course.
