The 92-mile Allagash Wilderness Waterway is comprised of the Allagash River and an interconnected series of lakes and ponds that starts at Allagash Lake and flows northward to the terminus at the St. John River and the Canadian border. The Allagash Wilderness Waterway was established by the State of Maine in 1966 and designated as a National Wild and Scenic River System by the U.S. Department of the Interior in 1970. This waterway once served as commercial thoroughfare for the logging industry but is now one of America’s best multi-day canoe adventures. Some canoeing experience is recommended, but not required.

  6. Recommendation List – A comprehensive list of restaurants, breweries, pubs, grocery stores, gear provisioning, lodging, and hidden local spots for pre/post-adventure needs.

Water Adventures:

+In addition to all package items in our Standard Package, all RUBICON Water Adventures include the following:

  1. All Lodging/Camping coordination and costs.

  2. Canoe Rental/Delivery coordination and costs (includes: canoe, paddle, and life-jackets).

  3. Vehicle Transportation/Shuttle coordination and costs.

  4. Wilderness Access permits/fees (where allowed by a third party vendor).
